1. Great Smoky Mountains:<\/b> This is one of America’s busiest parks drawing over nine million visitors a year. The famous “smoky” fog is known to shadow the highest point at Clingmans Dome (6,643 feet). Nature lovers will enjoy the deciduous forest, plant varieties, and mountain wildlife.

3.Yosemite:<\/b> This is the third most visited park in America and it is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Yosemite is known for its deep valleys, looming rock formations, ancient sequoias and wildlife. Highlights include the 317-foot Vernal Fall a fast moving waterfall on the Merced River just downstream from Nevada Fall.

4. Yellowstone:<\/b> This park has more geysers and hot springs than any other place in the world. Bison abound here and the park is also home to elk, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears, moose, deer, and birds. The famed Old Faithful Geyser erupts every 35 to 120 minutes for 1-1\/2 to 5 minutes giving visitors a taste of a natural erupting water fountain.

5. Grand Teton:<\/b> This park is open year round but September and October offer fewer crowds and the fall season features the famous elk migration. The tippy top peaks of the Teton range (pictured) are spectacular at sunrise from Schwabacker Landing (a great viewing point). And keep an eye out for wildlife in the lowlands below the entire Eastern Rocky Mountain range.
