If you\u2019ve ever thought of seeing the Princess Diana Museum now is the time to start planning that timeshare vacation to England. By August of 2014 Lord Spencer, Diana\u2019s older brother, intends to close the exhibition of his sister\u2019s belongings.<\/p>\n

Lord Spencer is acting according to Diana\u2019s will, which specified that her personal items were to be “looked after” until her sons turned 30. Her youngest son, Harry, will be 30 next year.<\/p>\n

Diana’s family members opened the museum at their Althorp estate in 1998, a year after she died in a Paris car crash.<\/p>\n

There are six rooms in the museum displaying a range of Princess Diana’s personal artifacts including the famous bridal gown. The museum’s collection also includes 28 dresses, two tiaras, priceless family jewelry, and pictures, letters and home movies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibition has been admired by thousands of people around the world,\u201d said a spokesperson. \u201cIt has been a wonderfully tasteful celebration of the late Diana, Princess of Wales\u2019 life and achievements \u2013 particularly her charitable works and her glamour.\u201d<\/p>\n

Built in 1508, Althorp has been home to the Spencer family for nearly 500 years. There are 19 rooms in the house open to the public displaying a fine collection of furniture, pictures and ceramics.<\/p>\n

Althorp, located in Northamptonshire, was home to Princess Diana before she joined the Royal family, and following her death in 1997 the family created the extensive museum exhibition as a memorial to reflect on her life and work.<\/p>\n

Outside is a beautiful park and gardens where you can enjoy a picnic or alternatively eat in the caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Althrop is also Princess Diana\u2019s final resting place. She is buried on a small island in the middle of a lake named the Oval Lake. Visitors are not allowed on the island, but can easily view the memorial pedestal and urn from shore.<\/p>\n

Four black swans swim in the lake symbolically guarding her grave. The water lilies in the lake are some of Diana\u2019s favorite flowers.<\/p>\n

There are 36 oak trees (one for every year of her life) bordering the path down to the lake.<\/p>\n
