Take a Look at These New Passenger Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-R5_SMBrs-XM\/TyK8JhAeReI\/AAAAAAAAC-I\/dS_dLpoEddA\/s1600\/airplane.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;width: 254px;height: 198px\" src=\"\/content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/airplane.jpg?727850bba89add864d574990dcd9866d\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The sun continues to rise on passenger rights \u2013 good news for timeshare vacationers.<\/p>\n<p>Last May the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced a new series of passenger rights. &#8220;It&#8217;s the biggest change in airline passenger protection since deregulation in 1978,&#8221; said Charlie Leocha, Director of the advocacy group Consumer Travel Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hoped that the new consumer protections for airline passengers will make flying more convenient and hassle-free for air travelers nationwide. \u201cThe Obama Administration believes consumers have the right to be treated fairly when they fly,\u201d U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Transportation&#8217;s new passenger protections will help ensure that air travelers receive the respect they deserve before, during and after their flight,\u201d said LaHood.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the regulations went into effect in August, 2011, and addressed such issues as getting bumped, time spent on the tarmac, and lost luggage. Requiring all taxes and fees to be included in advertised fares.<\/p>\n<p>2. Banning post-purchase price increases.<\/p>\n<p>3. Allowing passengers to hold a reservation without payment, or to cancel it without penalty, for 24 hours after the reservation is made, if the reservation is made one week or more prior to a flight\u2019s departure date.<\/p>\n<p>4. Requiring disclosure of baggage fees when passengers book a flight.<\/p>\n<p>5. Requiring that the same baggage allowances and fees apply throughout a passenger\u2019s journey. <\/p>\n<p>6. Requiring disclosure of baggage fee information on e-ticket confirmations.<\/p>\n<p>7.
