Mazatlan, a Nahuatl word meaning \u201cplace of the deer\u201d is located ten miles <\/span>from the Pacific Ocean and its latitude is the same as Honolulu, making the weather comfortably <\/span>mild year-round. Temperatures range from 68 to 75 degrees on the average, <\/span>with warmer temperatures in the summer and mild weather in the winter.<\/span>   <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

There is plenty to do in the city of Mazatlan whether you\u2019re part of a family, <\/span>single or in a group. <\/span>Great places to visit around the city are the local <\/span>aquarium and the beautiful sandy beaches. Favorite activities include horseback riding, <\/span>golfing and <\/span>cheering on <\/span>the city\u2019s triple-A baseball team<\/span>.<\/span>  <\/span>Baseball is <\/span>a favorite activity in Mazatlan and when local games are played, the stands <\/span>are filled with all ages shouting advice to pitchers, batters and team <\/span>managers. Of course, there’s plenty of cheering on the players!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Coffee aficionados will love the various coffee shops scattered around the <\/span>town.<\/span>  <\/span>Don\u2019t look for a local Starbucks, as there are none to be found as of the time <\/span>of writing, but do look for Rico\u2019s coffee – a heady brew of locally <\/span>roasted coffee that is smooth, superb, and truly the nectar of the Gods. <\/span>Rico\u2019s coffee shops don\u2019t make huge pots of coffee – instead, each cup is brewed individually for you. <\/span>Due to a lack of pasteurization, there is no half and half for your coffee. <\/span>Instead, try the local \u201ccream\u201d that is offered at Rico\u2019s. Delicious coffee <\/span>awaits you at any of the coffee stands around town.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For adults who want to see where their beer is made, you can visit the <\/span>Pacifico Brewery in town. Pacifico is one of the country\u2019s largest <\/span>breweries. Of course, other beers are offered but local brands are truly to be sampled.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Christmas, New Years, Dia del Muerto, All Saints Day, and Carnival are prime times of the year to visit Mazatlan. Carnival (Car-knee-vol) is a <\/span>street party from day one with parades, special foods in the cafes and <\/span>patrons dressed in costume. This holiday has been celebrated for many years <\/span>in the town and the entire town’s population turns out to celebrate and have <\/span>fun. <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Outside the city are three places you don\u2019t want to miss for day trips – <\/span>Deer Island, Stone Island and the town of El Calite – a colorful Mexican <\/span>town with a wonderful history and a locally made goat cheese that rivals the <\/span>best in the world.<\/span> <\/span>Visitors can also visit the silver and gold mining towns <\/span>of Rosario, Copala (don\u2019t miss their wonderful coconut cream pie!) and <\/span>Panuco. <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
