Based on the huge Roman Pantheon, this imposing round entranceway  (a soaring 180 feet high) is the connecting spot between the House of Representatives on one side and the Senate on the other.  The rotunda is filled with busts and statues of America\u2019s Presidents, which your children will find anything but boring. You can also take a fun walk through a tunnel to the Library of Congress.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-uqq8xeNU3KI\/Tjm0TQyDAVI\/AAAAAAAACOg\/Lkhj1Njf1Nc\/s1600\/ford%2Btheatre.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;width: 320px;height: 219px\" src=\"\/content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/ford2Btheatre.jpg?7af6800775f0c71e8534706927490e17\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><b>Ford\u2019s Theater<\/b><br \/>A tour of America\u2019s most infamous theater will give the kids an intimate understanding of Abraham Lincoln as never before. On a self-guided tour  of the Ford\u2019s Theater Museum they\u2019ll  learn about Lincoln\u2019s presidency from his first inauguration to the fateful night when he arrived at Ford\u2019s Theater with his wife, Mary.  Unbelievably on display is the actual derringer used by John Wilkes Booth to assassinate the 16th President. There are a limited number of free tickets for the tour available on a daily basis. If you miss those, the cost of the tour is only $2.00.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-xz66QN4oMjM\/Tjm0ZK4YvEI\/AAAAAAAACOo\/8rgPQqQ_TG0\/s1600\/tidal%2Bbasin.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;width: 320px;height: 222px\" src=\"\/content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/tidal2Bbasin.jpg?0dad9a92a63f61848e44acbfb3fc0d07\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><b>Tidal Basin<\/b><br \/>This two-mile loop passes the Reflecting Pool, turns into West Potomac Park, and circles the water. From here you can see beautiful views of the Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington monuments, as well as war memorials. For a small fee you can even rent paddle boats, a fun way for the kids to get a different perspective of our Capital\u2019s most famous structures.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-D_B26LdQQlo\/Tjm0e2CnYoI\/AAAAAAAACOw\/DFzsDvPsFgQ\/s1600\/national%2Bmall.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;width: 320px;height: 222px\" src=\"\/content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/national2Bmall.jpg?534043f5e32b069a6dc6af2ab1a5f7a6\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><b>The National Mall<\/b><br \/>This rectangular open-air park is an area commonly thought of as being located between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol Building. Along both sides are the free museums of the Smithsonian, including the amazing Museum of American History, the exciting Air and Space Museum, and the Smithsonian \u201cCastle.\u201d The National Gallery of Art is also located here.
